As you can see it uses beams out to each side (Unless you leave your wheels in...) as well as a traditional look down beam. |

I stand corrected. If you are using a side viewing depth sounder you can't shoot through the hull. But then, how many people are going to buy a $1000 depth sounder for their kayak? I still think that for the vast majority of AI & TI owners gluing one inside the hull is the way to go. When I launch the only thing I have to do to make mine work is turn it on. Jerry |

For the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone would want an external transducer mounted so low in the water. I have just installed a Lowrance HDS5 with external transducer, and having the transducer sit an inch under waterline works well enough, not popping up, no negative effects at higher speeds. It works a treat. Photos and commentary on my install job here: http://yakass.net/articles/87-equipment/558-mounting-the-monster.html |

I mounted everything outside as I wanted it to be, maybe the bracket that holds the transducer will be shortened to just below the waterline. Now all ok! good sign! http://picasaweb.google.com/MR.SPIRRITT ... 5500271474 |
