Hi, new TI owner here.

Does anyone know the distances from the bow to the fore cradle and the stern to the aft cradle?

Thanks

Hi cayipper,
I also had a problem finding out the measurements for the cradles.
However, I found out where to place them in the end by scaling the picture found in the catalogue. If you look at my first post in viewtopic.php?f=73&t=32752 especially picture #13 and 14 you can see where the cradles are placed i relation to the hull.

Thx Bo,

One would think Hobie would make this info readily available.

The catalog (page 27) states that cradles are designed to be placed at 67" apart. That is critical to the fit of the Pro Angler and the AI. On the TI, you can spread them further apart as the cradles have a pretty universal fit over a longer area of the hull.

Thanks Matt,

I believe it would helpful to know the distance from bow and /or stern to cradle(s) it would make finding and adapting a non-trailex trailer easier.

Thank you for the reply,
Derrick

Another new TI owner here, with a dealer-assembled Trailex trailer. The dimensions are:

bow (which is directly above the front edge of the trailer) to centerline of front roller = 39"

bow to centerline of front crossbar = 104"

centerline of front crossbar to centerline of rear crossbar = 67"

I have to trailer down four miles of extremely bad road, and discovered early on that the Hobie cradles allow the amas to rest against the hull when folded in and on the trailer. I have the trailex. Any how, this scuffs the hull and the ama a lot, especially with dust and mud between them.

For now, I pull the mainsheet to the stop knots, and use the loose line as a chafe bumper between the amas and the hull. The rear mainsheet reaches over to the left side ama ( when I turned 60 this year I officially stopped using Port and Starboard as terminology) and there is enough slack to make a u-shaped loop that puts the mainsheet line between the ama and the hull.

The two loose runs of mainsheet on the right side give you a couple places to drape the line between that right side ama and the hull.

I tried putting some clear tape on the amas as chafing gear, and it works for a couple trips but then wears through.

I think either a loop of line spliced to the ama handle and big enough to fall between the ama and hull would work as chafing gear.

Another solution that occurred to me Sunday was to glue something against the inside edges of the curves of the Hobie cradles to hold the amas out more. This might be the best permanent solution in my case.
