This is a minor annoyance, but something I would like to suggest to Hobie to improve. When carrying the amas one at a time by the handles, the rear of the amas drags on the ground if force is not applied towards the front of the handle with your other hand. Why not locate the handles at the center of gravity of the amas? You would only need to move them back a couple of inches. This would make carrying them a lot easier.

They should be close to balanced. Maybe you have some water in yours? Or like one of my original AI ama, it was not molded evenly?

They are close....but not quite balanced. They have been this way before they ever saw water. Both are identical in the weight distribution relative to where the handle is. From what I can tell, they're about 2-3 inches too far forward.

My amas are also unbalanced before seeing any water.

One of mine is balanced. The other is not and drops to the rear. :(
It is a manufacturing problem as I noticed it when picking up the TI at the dealers.
I'm guessing it's too much much plastic at the rear as opposed to not enough at the front. :?
Occasionally one of the ama drops out of the rear aka collar when underway. The bungee stops it dropping all the way but I'll have to check whether it is this unbalanced ama.

Both of my amas are unbalanced too. Thought problem was just with mine.

Mines are slightly heavier towards aft. Perhaps they can mold them with multiple mounts so that one can move the handles forward and back to help with balance.

I have one that is stern-heavy, the other is well balanced, both that way out of the box from the factory.
It might make sense to just make the handles longer, so the manufacturing differences can be accommodated.
I've been thinking of building some sort of a shoulder strap to carry them both anyway...

Both of my amas are off balance also. No problem sailing, just annoying when you have to carry them by the handles.

My starboard Ama is perfectly balanced (at the handle). But my port Ama is VERY front heavy.

Some days it's just the opposite. Go figure.

BTW - a friend just ordered a new TI AMA set. They are 1.5-2 lbs different, with completely different balance.

You would think SOMEONE would weigh them and at least TRY to match a pair, prior to shipping.

Nohuhu, you logic is impeccable, as usual.

I must be lucky, mine are fine (as long as water does not set in any spoil the balance :D )

My MY11 TI amas are rear heavy if holding by the OEM holder provided.
