has anyone come up with a way to use the Hobie Livewell in the AI? the rear Xbar is in the way, but maybe you all have some modifications or ideas to make it work? any help is greatly appriciated.

Hello Euro kayaker. My name is Scott and I live in the panhandle of Florida on the Gulf of Mexico. I have had my Adventure Island for three years now and love it. It is the ultimate fishing platform. I was out last week fishing with another friend who has a kayak guide service. He has a Revolution with a Livewell and we actually caught a beautiful Sailfish which I video taped and he landed and released.
I always had to go to his kayak to get our live bait. With this in mind I decided that I needed to get a live well also so started researching and always came back to the Hobie. Why not, keep with the brand right? Well, I bought one that was a year old and needed a new switch and battery which I gladly had our Hobie dealer put in which was also extra. Come the day to fish I put it into the well (I keep the kayak on a rack at the beach) and see that it does not fit. I look at all brochures and there is no mention that it won't fit and if you go into the live well section under "features" it states that there are two tubes. One is for the Pro Angler and the other is for "all other Hobie kayaks." Very disconcerning. I have recently also sent this info to Hobie so that it does not happen to anyone else. I see you have no responses to your inquiry so maybe there is not a lot of demand for this challenge. The funny thing is that my dealer who sold me the kayak and also the same live well to the person I bought it from did not know. I also called Hobie directly and talked to the first rep and he said that it "will" fit until I told him that no, the bar is in the way. He looked into it and confirmed that you and I are both correct.
My main reason for emailing you is to know you are not alone and to see if you have retro fitted this in any way. I am going to try today and if I succeed I will let you know. If you have tried please let me know. My email address is [email protected].

Thank you and have fun with a great setup regardless. Scott.

Thanks Scotty! i have not given it a shot yet. not very interested in modifying a 200 dollar live well or the kayak, just yet. since it looks like Hobie looked over this little problem. maybe they will develop a answer. have you tried to modify and make it work yet?

We certainly do know it does not fit the Adventure Island, but it does fit the Adventure. Since it was introduced in our catalog several years back... we have always listed the models that it does fit. We have never stated that it fits the Adventure Island.
