Ok, so my TI is in winter storage about 500 miles from my home. I've been inspired by this thread to take a crack at a haka design, but I'm super concerned about doing it without measurements.
Are there dwaings of dimensions available from Hobie?
If not what are the dimensions that everybody has been using, have we developed a kind of standard dimension?
Also what is the diameter of the Aka bars?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have an idea for my CNC machine and would love to get cracking.
leelanauX,
I've not come across any such diagram with various dimensions, but there could be one out there. I believe the only detailed diagram from hobie is the parts list.
I suggest reading this thread in its entirety once, maybe twice, then going back and looking at the various designs. You will find there is no standard design, which makes the thread that much more valuable. Everyone has their own ideas and we are lucky many before us have shared those ideas. Pick a design that suits your need (fishing, racing, expedition, supermodel display, etc.) and make it your own by incorporating your own ideas.
The aka bars are (these are my measurements) 1-11/16" in diameter. 2" pvc lined with some non-slip rubber padding such as fatigue mat material fits around them nicely, but again there are many ways to achieve this.
the distance from the front and rear aka (again my measurements) is 56-15/16". I have read that this distance varies (wider out toward the amas and narrower the closer you get to the hull). I was able to notice a minute difference, perhaps a 1/16" of an inch, but straight enough for the tolerances I am working with to make it square. I have a 2012 model.
I hope this helps you as this thread has certainly helped me.
