Nothing homophobic - my sister has one, she's a hairdresser...

HEY! I owned one. That 6-speed tranny was NOT built for towing though.

It's hilarious and sad to see that car pulling a trailer.

At least it's red.

CC, check out my rollbar a few pages back. It works like a champ. Tony indicated it would hinder performance but I couldn't really tell a difference with performance or shape with the sail unfurled. The clew could probably come down about 3" or so.

Yaknrugger, bout time for us to see some test flight shots with the stained/finished Hakas. You must be itching to use them.

Re the roll bar - how does it handle down wind sail profiles?

Hope we'll see for ourselves, when she's fully dressed.

Chopcat - did you ever show us how the longboards are attached?

I'm curious to see this, and how you managed mounting the tramps at the same time. That's a challenge.

I can't seem to find any pictures at the moment. I just use bungees with a cleat thing on the end that allows you to pull it tight. I wrap them around a few times, pull tight and they seem to hold fine.

On the front you can only get one side around the aka but I have experimented in using the bungee for holding the tramp when rolled up put it didn't seem necessary.

Absolutely Nohuhu. The weather has been terrible lately, and I have been busy with real life...:/ I was able to snap a few pics of the finished product this afternoon. I'm pleased so far with my first set. Hopefully have time to test them out this weekend.

Shootz, brah. Mean da kine hakas. Lol, well, decent for a haole like myself anyhow. Picked up a bit of pidgin after serving 18 mos in Iraq with a nat'l guard unit in 2005. Get plenty spam musubi fo' poun', ya? Anyhow, 29th BCT out of Schofield. Awesome guys. Even got to demobilize there on the Army's dime for 3 months. Talk about your extended vacay. :D

Thanks for the compliment. I look at mine and see so much of what others have contributed, and although I've not been on the water with them yet I still feel calm like I trust them because they are made from little bits of everyone else's ideas here that are proven.

Huge thanks to you for getting this started, you must be stoked with the progress that's been made in the past year. You have inspired so many Island owners so hat's off to you, sir!

Beautiful woodwork old son! Some of us are GIFTED when it comes to working with wood, others LEARNED well under instruction, then there is my category...where one gets a clip over the ears for stuffing up a beautiful piece of wood due to a talent for total incompetance in woodworking. However, as with art...While I can't paint, I can appreciate the talent of others. Well done fellas, I salute your talents
Cheers Vintagereplica...If it works okay ...modify it anyway!

Amen to that VR. I remember a couple of centuries ago, spending 3 months making a freakin' teapot stand at school. It had rebates, chamfers (what ever they are), the whole ball of wax. Anyway, after all that, mine still wobbled. I got 28% for woodwork.

You know I love ALL my children, but so far, I gotta give the "Artistry" prize to Chopcat and his home-planed, biscuit-wedged, glue-lam'd, 10x varnished, oversized diving boards.

Image

Those things got everything but abalone purfling! (And a turtle - you turtle guys always get extra points with me).

Of course, give ME some real decent wood, a $100,000 workshop and a long dark winter, and I could turn out something pretty almost-not-amateur-looking. :D

But I think CC may have set a new high water mark for wood Hakas. Congrats!

FYI, I've heard sawing sounds coming from the Batcave recently, which means someone may be plotting his revenge,..
