chrisj, i like your quarterdeck and intend to copy it. is it possible for you to give the dimensions, including cut pieces, as i too have an AI but cant measure and cut without a plan and the AI is hours away.
any tips or ideas on the qd would be appreciated, as would a description of how it is held down under sail.
I'm happy to share any info with you about the quarterdeck, but my measurements may not be exactly right for your boat. Do you have the old pin fitting akas or the newer snap-in style? I made mine for the newer style fittings and the design would need to be modified to fit the old ones.
It's a lot easier to make if you have the boat there. I sort'a built it on the boat, so I could see how each bit fitted as I went.
It's not "held down" at all. When hiking out, the weight is borne by the akas and crossbraces. I cut it fairly snug, so it doesn't tend to move around. I guess a prudent person would bungee it down, so it doesn't dislodge in extreme conditions.
I'm also fiddling with a new design which improves the ability to pedal from the deck, at the expense of being able to pedal from the existing seatwell.
