Thank you for that larryhts. You seem to have no trouble tacking. I keep getting caught "in irons", with the sail flapping around.

The TI tacks much easier in light winds than the AI snowmonkey. With its extra weight, its momentum carries it across the wind. Also, with its bigger sail and more buoyant amas, Larry can sit out on the windward Haka in light wind without burying the ama.
That's a sweet setup you have there Larry. Even if it were possible to sink a TI, you and your passenger would still have lifeboats.

Snowmonkey, The 2 or 3 tack in the video – I get caught in the irons but reverse the rudder and let the wind push the boat back completing the tack. It faster and easy to do than peddling through the turn.

Chrisj, Thanks the supermodels like to lay out on them also  I never know how many people will be riding with me, I have had 4 adults and 2 grandkids on at one time, slow but fun and safe.

Thanks for posting those pictures NOHUHU - good timing.

I'm building second generation hakas in the next month or so and was considering the middle brace batman has on his. I'll also be incorporating more "haka extensions" (resized) on the second set for more options in jib deployment as well as haka tenting.

What kind and size fasteners do you guys use in the wood? Are they just stainless wood screws? Do you use glue too? My hakas don't look as pretty with the holes drilled in the top for the expensive stainless bolts I'm using.

Do those 3 legged hakas of yours have any underbracings on them or are they free spirits  that aren't too concerned about sagging.

Dan, I think that's patio furniture. :)

Two questions:

How much does each weigh?
How are they attached to the aluminium bars?

(these may have been covered already, apologies)

OOPS! I was supposed to filter that out.

Let's just call it the "Bat Recliner" project for now.

Time to buy a bigger screen Tony? They are all posted as "Tinypics". ;-)

Seriously though, I thought the Hobie site now scales the photos unless you want to blow them up?

Fortunately, when it comes to Batman's craftsmanship, TMI is a good thing.

Around 10 and 15lb each. We use 4 standard bungles to attach each Haka to any AI or TI.
