Imua Bob!

Sunny, those are the support centerboards for the 70" Haka design, so they are only 5' each. You can see in the recent pictures how they run along the center of the bench, but don't need to go edge to edge.

Topher owns a pair of 8' wood Hakas, if I am not mistaken. I guess he attracts more supermodels, (or bigger ones).

My wife and I love the extra long Haka's!!! There is so much more room for gear and passengers to stretch out and take a nap.

Oh and there is twice as much room for the Supper Models to lay about. :D

OK I got it now, Thanks.

Wow, 8' Hakas, that is impressive.

BTW. How do you get all that blue food coloring dye in the water to look so natural... :?

I tested on my TI Saturday, easily hit 10.2mph in lighter variable winds.

Beautiful. Welcome to the Haka Hui, Bob!

Hakas and Sprayskirts - the perfect combination!

I am overwhelmed. Never thought I would live to see this day --

I know its a personal preference but is there a common length for Haka's on an AI? I want to keep the weight down so I am not looking for a ton of overhang. I believe the distance between the bars is 60"

I modeled mine after NOHUHU's which is 6 feet long. 10 - 8 foot 1x3's was all the wood needed in my case.

Mine weight 16.5# each which was more than I expected but they feel light to carry.

Thx. Yours look great. I live in nor cal so I want to make them from local material. I am thinking redwood. Which may be lighter. What it the width? I am thinking 16 -18 inch.

You need a bit of overhang, or some way to ensure there is no fore-aft slippage, or the Haka is likely to slip off the akas.

Thanks J.

Kevin, my Hakas are 3 slats with 4 joists. (Plenty nuff)
Batman's are 4 slats with 4 joists and a truss. (Overkill for supermodels,..)

Hi all,

i have been reading all the topics about TI modifications and i am impressed. I don't own a TI yet but i will order one, here in Quebec Canada probably next week for delivery in spring 2013. As a winter project, i will start hakas building. What is the measurement between the akas of a TI ?

Thanks

Richard
