What material are the Hobie tramps made from?
Is it used on other Hobie sailing craft?
Can this be purchased in lengths/rolls?
Is there an OEM equivalent that will match the existing AI/TI tramps?

Super-secret project underway...

It's a material used in awnings. Phifertex. We have used it on catamaran trampolines... forever. We don't sell it as a raw material.

Thanks Matt. We have located it.

Do you know if it is the 70% or 90% shade version?

The black is part number T54X049560 19 X 19 X04-BLACK if that helps.

19X19 may be an custom Phifertex industrial product cuz I don't see it out there.

The 90% shade Phifertex X04 Plus (3007165) is a much tighter 42 x 12 mesh weave designed for slings.

The standard Phifertex X04 70% shade (3006894) is a 17x11 weave and probably the equivalent, judging by the look of my tramps.

Thank you. We'll try to adapt a set of stock Hobie tramps but if that don't work, we'll ask around for Phifertex.

It will be interesting to see what you are working on. The Hobie tramps don't look like they are sown but bonded/heat pressed.

It appears they are triple folded and heat sealed.

We received sample material from sailrite this week.

The 70% shade cloth is way too thin and porous. The 90% (plus) is about the same thickness as Hobies but a different, finer weave.

I would definitely recommend the 90% cloth for making custom tramps or repairing the Hobie models, even if it is not a perfect match.

The 70% might be a suitable material for spray skirts.

Hi Nohuhu, I´ve made a spray skirts with the 70% phifertex and it doesn´t work properly because is too porous...

I´m going to try with a double layrs...and we will see if it works...

80% shadecloth for a Sprayskirt is about as perfect as you can get, and much cheaper.

I made my TI trampolines with mesh from Sailrite
Very strong durable and inexpensive polypropilene 74" wide sold by the linear yard item #5624 only in black
the thread to use is V-92 Item # 100071 strong and UV resistant
I made a set of tramps for my old larger Tri and they lasted for ever, still in good shape when I sold the boat.
