As far as suffering and unintended
collapse,...It's possible to do in waves if the tramps are loosely fitted and your weight is not on them (leeward Ama).
If you are riding them you may not notice a brace failure at all. But recovering the Aka brace can be very difficult while the tramps are deployed and tight. It takes intense pressure to put everything back in square.
BTW, I found out last weekend that Hakas WILL allow a collapse (at least partial) when sailing in rough conditions, provided they are not bolted on.
So to recap - collapsing the Akas with either tramps or Hakas on should only be done by mistake.
