While I wait for my new AI to arrive, I've been researching common problems and solutions...
Preventing leaks through the 8 inch hatches and self tapping screw holes by sealing with Sikaflex 291 or Marine Goop came up a fair bit, so I was wondering what people think is the most effective surface preparation prior to applying sealants - alcohol or acetone?
(I have some Sikaflex 291 and I'd use Sikaflex primer, but it's not available locally)

PS From what I've read Hobie now provide better rudder cable seals - I'm assuming that they haven't also started sealing the 8" hatches and self-tapping screws themselves since I read the leaks messages, right?

I work in the aerospace industry and the NASA standard is to do a acetone wipe first to get rid of any grease or oil residue and then wipe with alcohol that will then leave a super clean surface. The same if you are bonding anything but do a scotchbrite rub on it to rough it up first and then follow it with acetone then alcohol.
That thing will stick longer then a bad reputation.
