I've got a 2013 Adventure (no Island) and I was wondering about the possibility of using the 2015 amas when building it up to an AI. I know the spacing is not quite the same, as can be seen here:

viewtopic.php?f=71&t=52416&start=195

I'm confident that I can deal with the spacing issue. So, assuming that the aka spacing is not a problem, I'm wondering if there is any reason not to use the larger 2015 amas on a pre-2015 hull. From the "batboat" thread

viewtopic.php?f=69&t=33992

it seems that there might be some advantages to the larger amas. It's just a thought experiment at this point, but hoping to go to the full AI soon, and this idea crossed my mind.

I wouldn't do it. You can get a brand new 2014 AI full warranty for 3K from a couple select dealers. Be better off to sell the Adventure and buy the 2014 for far less and a full warranty.

I hadn't thought about a 2014 with warranty, but that's a good point. I have been looking at a used 2014 AI. The main reason I didn't want to go with that was because I'm a fisherman and I've made many (many) mods to the Adventure, and don't really want to have to start all over from scratch. Anyways, thanks for the suggestion.

I just realised that you should change your online handle ever so slightly now that you are joining the ranks of us Island owners. What do you reckon, NowHereMan? :D :D :D

That's a good suggestion. Maybe I can just change the "official" pronunciation without even changing the spelling...

Does anybody know offhand whether the front xbar for the 2015 AI (part 79104201) is compatible with a pre-2015 Adventure hull? I suspect not, since the 2015 has a "taller" profile. If that's the case, are the 2015 akas compatible with the earlier (V2) front xbar (part 79512601)?
