Post subject:  Dodger for the AI experience?

Has anyone used the dodger for the AI? I'm thinking about getting one for the cool weather late fall sailing, but not sure the unfurled sail will clear the open dodger top that easily, and dealing with the lines inside the dodger looks like it might be a problem. Anyone have any input or experience with it?

Every time I've taken my AI out in any wind and chop it has been a wet, fun ride. I personally can't imagine that a dodger or spray shield anywhere on this boat is going to make a difference when water is shooting over your head. My wife and I have relatively inexpensive breathable drysuits (under $500 ea.) from Kokatat. When we get off the water, we towel our heads and are completely dry everywhere else.

Gwizs' spray shield 3 is pretty effective.

I made one based on the pictures Gwiz had posted. My wife and I each have an AI and we go out together. Saturday we were out in 20-25 mph winds with heavy chop on the Sacramento river. I was getting totally hosed. Buckets of water thrown in my face while my wife stayed dry from the waist up with the spray shield on her boat.

That was all I could take! Last night we made a second one so we could both stay dry.

Here is the post with pics from Gwiz on KFS:

I saw that, and made one, including the ones on the sides with the spare plastic sheets. Works great. Thanks for the heads up though. I still may order the Dodger for when it gets cold in the fall and see how it works on the AI.

I'm not sure the dodger will fit over the AI hardware. Better double check first. 8)

There is a specific part number in the catalog for the AI dodger. It required a larger mast cut out and some additional fasteners along the sides.
