Post subject:  Ideas on how to mount a FF to the AI?

Hello everyone, once my Hullivator XT comes in the mail (scored one on eBay for $390 shipped) I will be on my happy ways to my local Hobie dealer to become a new and proud owner of an '08 AI. I currently have aa Outback that I use for fishing, my concern is where and how to mount my FF to my new soon to be AI. Any ideas? Suggestions? Thanks;)

I mounted my GPS on a ball-mount just forward of the pocket on the left side. Just watch out for the rudder up line hardware.

I installed my sonar right below the mast, between my feet. It's out of the way and visible in all situations. If you would like pics, let me know.

Post subject:  I put small ram balls inside the netted pockets

they are tucked away nicely inside the netted pockets

I still like to paddle the boat sometimes - the balls in the pockets don't get in the way

you also can't see them until the gps or ff are installed onto them

All the rigging I do on my boat has to permit me to paddle the boat and also get back into it

So whenever I mount hardware on the boat I am thinking how it can hang me up on the re-entry

All,

I appreciate all the helpful hint, I finally purchased my AI ('07 model) and absolutely love it! I took her out sailing the other day with my buddy who has an Outback and actually had to tow him home due to a leg cramp (cry-baby lol) and was averaging 4mph on the GPS. I decided to put a clam mount underneath the left cargo pocket and route the lines up to the FF where it will be attached to velcro. It sounds a little weird but it works like a charm on my Outback that I use for fishing and the best part of this method is that no additional holes are required. I will post pictures when I am finished, hopefully by this weekend. Thanks again!

Hi Sweetdude,

I like your idea of the clam mount but like so many other things I have to learn from this very helpful forum, I'm not sure that I fully understand it.

My new A1 arrives today so I'm hoping to hit the water this afternoon. Did you post ther pictures and if so, could you pleae direct me. Many thanks for your help.

Thanks Yakman... great picture. The mount for the fish finder looks very good. Is it attached to the bar?. I also think the GPS mounting is great because it shouldn't get in the way. They are the 2 items I need to purchase along with safety equipment for trips beyond the bay which is visible from my home.

How far do you typically go on a good trip and have you any concerns about getting home if you have equipment failure?.

no but there are bar mounts that you can buy

its attached to a ram ball with a conversion kit to receive the Scotty Control bar

it actually cuts down the bigger waves rolling down the side of the boat
