I purchased the A.I. because the system makes sense for solo touring in the conditions in my area. I've created a system for dropping anchore and sleeping aboard. (Picture a cot just off center with a lightweight one man tent on it.) I pick up my second A.I. this week and wonder if I could create a similar system but with a catamaran set up. Have aka's made which will join the two A.I.. Has anyone out there done this? It seems like something hobie might have thought of. A conversion kit could further expand the already very diverse boat. |

I would like to see pics as well. I have been toying with the idea of slinging a hammock but have yet to work out all the details. As for attaching 2 AI's it has been discussed but to my knowledge no one has done it. Over stressing the crossbars seem to be the main concern. gwiz |

Pics would be great jawzney! Linking two AI's has been discussed here: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=7906 http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=6481 I am waiting to see if Hobie release anything new later this year. If there is no tandem AI then I intend to purchase another AI and try a side by side conversion. Crossbar stress could be an issue but I'm sure it could be overcome. I also intend upgrading our tandem with the sail and aka/ama's from the AI. I would have done this already but my daughters wedding at the end of this month has meant my tinkering is on hold at the moment. |

The cross bar will need to be much different than it is currently. It is one thing to connect a heavy Vaka to a light Ama, but connecting two heavy Vakas is another matter. There might even need to be cross cables in addition to merely connecting crossbars. |
