Post subject:  Hobie Sailboat Rentals in Panama City Beach, FL

FYI:

I just returned from a beach trip and after making some phone calls I found two places that rent Hobie sailboats at Panama City Beach.

Sandpiper-Beacon Motel

Ask for "JP" at the rental hut on the beach.

Adventures At Sea-ask for John Robert.

Go to the hut on the beach in front of the Summit Condo. (8743 Thomas Drive, Panama City Beach, FL) - (800) 824-504)

I met with John first but his boat was down for the day. (vandals or something) I then went on down the beach and met with JP. I had never sailed before this but I have been wanting to sail a Hobie for a while. JP gave me a quick lesson on a Hobie Wave and before I knew it, myself and 3 others were sailing the coast. JP is a character! Just imagine a salty old sailor that is the last of a dying breed in the age of jet ski rentals. The Wave was very easy to maneuver even for a first timer like me. JP also had a Hobie Getaway for larger groups. The cost for the Hobie Wave was $60 for the first hour and $30 each additional hour. This is very low compared to Jet Ski rentals that were priced at about $90 per hour.

[color=#00FF00]Here is some updated information about the rental at the Sandpiper Beacon. I just returned from Memorial Day weekend and rented a Hobie again. They currently have a Wave and a Getaway on the beach in from of this resort. The best thing to do is to call the Sandpiper Beacon, 17403 Front Beach Rd., Panama City Beach, FL 32413
(850) 234-2154
and get the front desk to give you the number to the rental hut out on the beach. I paid $80 for 1 hour on the Getaway and it doesn't have wing seats on it. It was fun though.
