Since I put on a bow spray shield I have had essentially no water inside the hull.
Because I never use the front hatch while I am out on the water, my spray shield
was designed to stretch over the front hatch (it forms one big triangle). Even when the bow submarines
the spray shield really cuts down the water pressure hitting the hatch seals, keeping
water out.

Sea swells regularily flow over my bow Hatch yet I only get a pint of water on a two hour trip.
Seems like some ppl get water in the Hull and others don't?

i to get about a pint in , great sail yesterday 12-15 knts wind , mirage drive out , well plug in , going like the clappers ,
overhauled and kept in front of a Farr 5mtr mono , i was pretty chuffed with that .
a three hour sail and water in the hull ..... i'm not happy with that , has anyone tried a thinner hatch cover under what is already there , like the sea kayaks have , they have neoprene inner covers but i think that could be to thick , maybe ripstop / shower curtain material or something similar with shockcord around the perimeter and then the hard hatch cover on top of that ?

I have claimed regularly that the front hatch is well designed--for a hatch of that type--and does not leak significantly if the seals are working properly (there are 2 seals).

If you have checked all the hardware (screws through the hull are all tight and sealed), the circular T-n-S hatches are likely to be the source of leaks. The black o-ring seal must be kept lubricated with silicone spray or, better, silicone grease. Then, the o-ring must be seated properly in its groove so that the beveled edge is exposed when closing the cover. Of course, the T-n-S hatch cover and opening must be kept free of sand, dirt, etc. The T-n-S hatches require regular maintenance to prevent signicant leaks in rough water.
