I keep reading about the new Click-and-Go drive mounting failing? Drive "Popping out" Drive "Jammed in at an angle" Drive "Bending the retention arms" Maybe I can find a second-hand Revolution with the trusty, reliable Cam-Locks that have served me so well on Two previous hobies? |

There is nothing really "wrong" with the Click-n-go. No structural failures have been noted with this system. The issues have been primarily related to a few things... Using an older MirageDrive in a Click-n-Go hull. The drum shafts are different and using an older drive without changing to the new drum shaft (with splines) can allow one of the lock levers to rotate open during pedaling. Feet hitting and causing the levers to pop open. These can allow one side of the drive to pop up and jam the drive in place from pedaling in that position. Few other problems have been noted. You can read through the whole thread on the subject. The new system is far superior in most all ways. These few problems are avoidable. |

One more thing... Is it OK to use the "new" drive in the old cam-lock mount without modification to either? |

I think the Click N Go is superior in strength to the old cam system. Also, I seem to be getting slightly better pedalng speeds with the new system -- suspect the more secure lock-up allows less lateral flexing of the Drive and better efficiency. The old system works fine, but the new version is a great improvement IMO. I use the same Drive (with new style splined shaft) on both locking systems -- have had no associated problems with the old cam locks to date.

I initially was a little concerned about the click-n-go mechanism because ocasionally one side would disengage, until I realized that it was because my heel was pushing the lever to the unlocked position sometimes when I took my feet out of the pedals. Now I don't have any problems. I still bump one side open once in a while but now I know that if I feel any sort of side-to-side looseness in the drive to simply reach down and push the lever back. Problem solved! I have never experienced the drive jamming. I believe the problem I experience occasionally only would occur on the Adventure model because the levers stick up above the floor more than in any other model. |
