So we went to visit Jimbo's place on Virginia Key last Saturday. 11 mile round trip beginning in Miami on the North side of the Rickenbacker bridge. We had a great time. The winds were a little light (7-10mph), so we did some hangin' on the tramps but it was enough wind to sail in for sure. Jimbo was there so we got to chat with him. He's famous in Miami and he's pretty old, so we felt pretty lucky to get the chance to meet him. The sail back was great This weekend we will try to get to East Cape Sable from Flamingo (15 mile round trip). Can't wait! |

Looks like fun, especially with a food goal at the other end! |

How was the Smoked Fish? Trips like that are fun even when the wind isn't the best. |

tspbrady, Do you live in the Miami area? If so, do you get to the Keys very often? My wife and I have reservations at the Bay Cove Motel, on Key Largo for the first weekend in November and would appreciate any hints on sailing down there. We will be bringing an AI & a TI. My wife usually sails the AI and I go solo in the TI. |

"My wife and I have reservations at the Bay Cove Motel, on Key Largo for the first weekend in November and would appreciate any hints on sailing down there. We will be bringing an AI & a TI. A day trip out to Nest Keys is a must. If you get bored, go a couple of miles down the road to Harris Park and head out to the reefs in the Atlantic. Don't neglect Mrs Mac's restaurant right next door. It's one of the better restaurants in the area. Ted |
