Has anyone ever seen or sailed one of these?

Looks fun.

Sure have - on vids. They look awesome, but Hobie dropped the hydrofoil concept craft. That doesn't surprise me, as they are notoriously difficult to handle. What you saw in that vid was the best of the best. Given different wave/wind conditions, they can't cope.

Even the multi-multi million dollar record-breaking sailing hydro - l'Hydroptere - has capsized.

Hobie is very innovative, but their business is still to produce reliable craft for a mass market. At this point in time at least, hydros just don't make it.

Can't help but wish, though! :D

The Hobie TriFoiler had patented sensor systems for foil adjustments while in flight. It worked awesome and was really easy to sail. Still... complex and expensive to maintain. Required a few specific skills and launching / sailing conditions for best operation which narrowed the appeal greatly.

Wow! You really get a feel for just how fast and smooth these are when you see it pulling away from the powerboat and the powerboat is bucking up and down in the wake. Seems to be a very elegant and effective system for keeping the foil level and smooth. What a shame I can't get one... oh wait.... just how can I rig a TI so do this....hmmmm

These were in production for a number of years in the mid - late 90's.
