Hey There, I have a Adventure Island and I want to update the sail on it. I have seen the island sail kit (99604001) in the parts catalog. does anyone know what is included in this kit? |

If you already have the Adventure ISLAND... You want to replace the sail? The kit you refer to has the mast, sail and fittings included. What you would need is the replacement sail which is listed by color in the parts diagrams (catalog). 79509001 Island Sail White/Grey 79516001 Island Sail Papaya/Turquoise/White 79515001 Island Sail Red/Grey/White |

Euro, I ordered the (red) replacement sail only. 79515001 As I recall, the only thing I needed to do was swap the battens from my old sail, before rigging it in place. I would suggest: 1. Inspecting the bare mast and furling drum to be sure it has not cracks or issues. 2. Ordering spare battens w/ the sail 3. Ordering spare telltails w/ the sail. The new ones did not last long. 4. Triple tie your battens in place, but don't secure them in too tightly. They will need to flex. 5. Applying a couple coats of 303 Aerospace Protectant or UVTECH to ALL areas of the sail and letting it cure for a couple days before using it. |

What is this spray for the sail? Should this be done to any new sail or just this replacement part? |

I use 303 http://www.303products.com/ but Hobie has another one that may be better. Think of it as sunblock for plastic, cloth, etc. Here in Hawaii, I put it on 3 to 4 times a year and I don't wash the sail in between. |

You must believe it is really necessary Bob to apply several times a year. I didn't do anything other than an occasional wash in fresh water with my just gone 2009 model AI, and it looked like new when I sold the boat. Now I am confused whether I sould pay more attention to the care of the sail...Pirate |

All of it. Stored rolled in the sun and sailed often. But after one year, the protected replacement is a 'bute. And faster. Imagine that. |

Pirate, part of my problem is two of my AI sails are over 4 years old, the others are 2 - 3 years old, only my TI is under a year. I just washed them after use, until last year, when I had to repair my first sail. I now have a second sail in need of repair. I hope by using 303, I can add at least a couple more years to each sails life. We just washed and reapplied 303 to all the sails again today. Remember, here in Hawaii (in the tropics) our UV rating can go as high as 15. Before moving here, I had never known the scale went above 9. |

Thanks guys for the input. It is certainly an important part of the boat to protect if we can....Pirate |
