Makes me long for the summer. We still have a lot of snow and ice where I live. But spring is now just around the corner! In a month or so I'll make my first maiden voyage.

Watching the video I have a question: Going straight with the wind is often not the fastest, zig-zagging downwind is usually quicker. Is this also the case with the AI? What degree of the zig- (and zag- :) ) is most efficient?

You are right, with the AI, sailing about 45 degrees downwind is faster and more stable (no sail flipping back and forth) than strait downwind. The takeout was directly downwind and he was just happy the 25mph gusts from earlier had stopped. The best angle downwind is often decided by other factors like the wave size and direction.

I was happy to be finally sailing with my oldest. He grew up kayaking and canoeing on a whitewater river with me, but had not visited since I've had the AI's (His wife hates flying).
