Hi all, this video is taken on the Bar Crossing on the Gold Coast Australia. Going out and coming in. Some massive surfs but a couple of wipeouts as the nose dug in and spun me around. Hope you enjoy. |

You've just done something that we would all love to do but don't want the damage. You didn't mention any damage ????? We have often said that it's hard to get a true representation of wave size via most underwater cameras with various fish eye lenses. Would you agree that the waves were bigger than what's shown on the video ? BTW, great clip Spook. |

There was no damage at all. I did not feel in danger at anytime, even when the nose dug in and turned me sideways and yes the waves were much bigger than they looked. I was carrying a drift anchor and it was my intention that if I got into trouble I would through it out and bring the boat straight again but never felt I needed it. I reckon if I could get my arse to the back of the boat I would have been able to surf them much better but then I couldn't steer. Catch 22. Great fun though and I will master the surfing. The only real thing I can think of that would help out is a water balast bag on the back to bring the nose up or one of those wave nose attachments. |

We all saw a video about a year ago when someone beached side on and caused a few new bends in his Amas. Great fun though. I did the same at the weekend with smaller stuff at Fingal Bay with 2 small breaks 50, then 30m from shore. And between that 50 and 30 was a ride where the nose was just on the brink of submarining. Thing was I wanted it too nose dive to test out the splitter some more. |
