A long time ago, I posted an article about an upcoming trip that I was going to take. I never got around to posting a video, or any follow up information about that trip.

Here is the link to that post:

The other night, I found some of the videos and pictures from that trip, so I decided to put together a video. It's about 10 minutes long, so it's not for everyone, but I hope that at least someone enjoys it. I'm not a professional, at all, but I've always wanted to do a video like this, so here it is.

If you don't want to watch the whole video above, the video below is a teaser clip that I made a long time ago, showing what I wanted to put into the main video.

Here are some pictures from that trip:

Outstanding. What time of year were you there?

This was in June 2011. I only wish I had a better video camera at the time. :)

Video and narration is a pretty hard gig but you nailed it. Great job. I remember your trip. What a spot. iMovie presents it well hey. Have you had a go at FinalCut Pro yet augaug ? It's now pretty cheap, has a lot more texts, themes and features, and iMovie files come straight across. But you have to relearn as everything is different. But then again, why bother, with these results you don't need to change.

( P.S. what's the specs on your socks ? )

This would be a good one for the Hobie Favorite Video post Mat !

Thanks everybody! It's so nice to see that people appreciate these little videos! Seeing your comments lets me know that the time spent putting this together was worthwhile!

:D

Slaughter - I haven't tried FinalCut Pro yet. I hear it's great, but it's not something that I need right now. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this, (The mac makes it easy!) but I did want to try some sort of narration as I got a new microphone, and it's MUCH clearer than the standard computer mic. I could have spent more time with transitions, and should have balanced out the sound more to make the volume consistent, but I didn't want to spend too much time with the project as I wanted to finish it off in one evening. I also wasn't crazy about the video quality. If I had great quality video, I would have spent more time making it a higher quality finished project.

Most of my time was spent going over hours of video of moose. I'm convinced that I left the best clips out, but I took SO many videos, after a while, you just drop in what looks decent, and you let the computer work it's magic!

This was just such a fun trip, I wanted to share it, and there couldn't have been a more perfect boat than the Adventure Island.

But again, Thanks to everyone.

Oh, the socks, they were cheap neoprene socks from a co-op adventure type store in Canada called Mountain Equipment Co-op. I think they cost me about $11.00. They're decent, not fantastic, but fine for a trip like this.

Your video work is certainly appreciated be me. And to do that in an evening is a big effort. I know exactly what you mean about the effort you put in is determined by the poorest quality of either the sound or the video. I’m doing some band videos and I can get the video spot on but the audio is always a struggle. Even though I have one of the best audio recorders you can get, I seem to always finish up with a cool looking video that sounds like s---.

What you did on that video though is what I certainly like doing. Some are more into the sailing and some are more into the fishing. Personally, I like the expedition stuff and you’re dead right, there isn’t anything else on the water that does it better than the AI or TI.

As far as socks go, I’m hanging out for a pair of these. How trendy am I gunna look.

I'm thinking that bullmoose could outpaddle him too.

Now that would make for an interesting video.

The pictures are great, augaug, but I can't see the videos. Does anyone have a suggestion? Am I the only one?

I don't know why you can't see it. The settings look to be ok. Maybe restart your computer? Sorry I can't be more help.

"How bout bears. Are there any in that area ? If there are, I don't know how you blokes can sleep !"

There are lots of bears in the Canadian woods, Slaughter. You have to be real careful not to bring any food or food wrappers into your tent and make a hanging cache of your food off a branch of a tree above bear height. It's a pain in the butt but you can't get lazy about it. I've seen guys who tried to anchor a canoe out in a lake with their food in it overnight so they wouldn't have to make a hanging cache. Bad move--bears are good swimmers.
