Sue dismantled her AI and took it up the hill in bits, nicrob has not only a cart, but also a strap-on... er, front wheel for his TI, but he left it back at the car park.

It wasn't too bad moving them up the hill as the tide came in, so they were always sliding on a small wave each time we pulled.

Whale watching is definitely something I want to do as well. I once went chasing one, but it cruised faster than the TI, and I never got closer than about 400 metres, just close enough to se its antics... :|

Stringy, that ABC interview is truly fascinating (and the history is incredible!), and ramps up my desire to return to Broughton Island. Good find! I can thoroughly recommend to others living elsewhere to have a good listen!

Post mortem shows that both my rudder pins broke just above the bottom pintle (which is logical if the rudder has hit an object below. I remember grazing a rock just on arriving at the beach in Esmeralda Cove, which could explain the new one fitted on the way there breaking so quickly)

I confess I didn't do much exploring while on the island, as my mobility on my legs is way short of its form on a Miragedrive LOL. Given that Sue put a leg down a muttonbird burrow, maybe my decision to remain on the beach was a good one!

That could have been the same rock I bent my drive masts on, the first trip there, as we were leaving. The tide was just covering it and I plowed straight into it! I had taken an extra drive, so it came in handy on the return trip.
Did you manage to get a look at Con's Cleft?
Which way did you go back...the same way you came or did you circumnavigate BI?

Yeah, when the tide is out there are heaps of isolated rocks, only some of which have marker buoys.

As I broke my second rudder pin before we had even turned south to head home (and with Sue's sore ribs), I think our collective mindset just turned to getting to Shoal Bay, which is a shame. Still, I have no doubt that I will eventually get to have a better look around, although you won't see me trying to get through Con's Cleft.. your video of that effort is more than enough for me!
