Good story. I won't wade into the weeds here, but Utah is one state whose national parks are still open this time, due to their decision to use state funds to operate them for a few weeks, till the madness ends. Or so they hope.

Keith, I used to hike Bryce, Zion or Grand almost every year. Very unlike Hawaii. ;-)

I know what you guys are up to .. trying to guilt me into posting my trip report

I'll try and have it up in a bit - its a bit light on sailing details as weather was an issue but I've got a good theme in mind

... Yes, its a good thing we got to see Acadia before our wonderful elected officials decided to ruin alot of vacation'ers fun

I'd be PISSED if I was shut out .. just heard on the radio that some states are opening the parks on their own dime which I think is wonderful despite Mr. Pres saying "Dont expect to get reimbursed .."

While this is an old thread, lots of good info here. Thanks, all.

I'm planning to do (at least a portion of) the Maine Island Trail next summer with our TI while on the way to Cape Breton. I camped at Cobscook Bay SP this summer and the coast just begged to be explored - even started to wonder about a crossing over to NS..but small steps, first.

Is there and appreciable difference between insects and weather/water temps on the coast between late July and early September? August will be spent in CB.
