Thanks, really impressive weather survival story.

I find marine forecasts disappointingly generalized, and doppler radar charts sometimes omits storms in areas covered by their often down-for-maint stations. Worth checking tho, at least for wave prediction.

Instead I start with windguru.cz forecast to get 3 hr granularity of weather changes. Of course allow for nature not following the exact breakpoints. Also worth it to check windytv.com over a few hundred square miles to see the predicted context of your area conditions... a cold front would stand out more intuitively than conventional chart squiggles. In my case it explains strange behavior like when a mountain is almost shielding strong windflow so you can expect either strong or listless winds and not in-between.

I check other wx sites maybe too much due to aviation background, but I think those above are especailly concise, intuitive, yet comprehensive. Normally based on the same official weather computations, but not as dumbed down in presentation.
