Hey,

I've owned a TI for 3 years and it is one of my all time favorite possessions. What a great boat!

Recently after not being on these forums for a while, I believe I read a post by Matt Miller suggesting that Hobie is currently developing a "Higher Performce" boat inspired by the TI. Is this true? If this is true I am elated. I would nearly buy one site unseen.

Could some one confirm that this is true? Any idea at all if we are talking years away?

Also my wish list would include, better performing trampolines, and MUCH HIGHER SPEED.

So...

I could swear I read a post about this...

The deafing silence would suggest that I dreamt it. (Seriously). Huh?...

You must have seen something in a post that was meant to be humorous. I highly doubt there is anything in the works. It is fun to dream though!

I'd bet the designers have plenty of scribbles and radical designs in there heads. Not sure if you could call that work in progress though

It's on a "cocktail napkin" somewhere @ Hobie, I promise.

Though I expect it lacks foils and is more like a WETA. And requires a trailer.

And is out of my price range.

Again, I could swear that Matt posted about exploring a higher performance boat that uses mirage drive tech.

Ok... No one else... (Wow)

A moth is no match for a TriFoiler.

FYI, I came accross this video a while ago and the camera used could be improved but the video itself is pretty wild. Video is by Dan Ketterman and its of the tri foiler in a race to Catalina Island and back.. That boat just hauls some serious axxx!!!

They are just a speed bump, in fact.

Albeit a fatal one...

Hey I've got the real thing (foils), but don't use them much (maybe 3 times in the last 3-4 yrs), the conditions have to be just right to even bother with them (I pretty much need to have all 265 sq ft of sail out to use them, (and I can't get up on the foils upwind (not sure how well the Rave does upwind either), just not worth the effort). On windy days in October (the only month that it's windy enough round here). There's a trifoiler (#41) out in the bay most weekends that time of year and we hang out sometimes (no comparison though, mine sucks in comparison to a trifoiler, or even a Rave (mine has trailing drag poles like the rave), it's fun just playing around (somethin to do anyway)). Sail wise my TI is rigged similar to a WETA or a Windrider 17 (with their optional screacher), similar sail area. Not sure you could do much with just a stock TI sail (too small) with any type of foils.

Would I do it again (probably not)
