Hi there,
I bought a new TI just before easter and have been using these forums for all my info and tips.
Just thought I would say Hi and thanks. Love all the info here and am having fun on the boat.
Keen to catch up with some others for a sail in the Sydney area.

John.

Hi Nohuhu, I used to sail until about ten years ago when I started running a scout troop and couldn't dedicate enough time to the crew. I did the fore deck on an Adams 13 and never got my hands on the tiller and rarely got back in the cockpit unless used as ballast :) I grabbed the TI so I can haven't a run whenever I want and I see it as a good way the get my 8 yr old twins sailing. If they stuff a tack it's a bit more forgiving my mate tried to sell me his Windrider for a lot less than what the TI cost but I could see the family getting a lot more involved with the ti. I had the better half in the front and a twin on either tramp out in 20 knots and playing in the surf at the mouth of the hack get river on the first day. I've done some river runs each spare day since but need a bit more safety gear to venture out a little further.

Welcome aboard frodo! You made the right choice over a Windrider, without a doubt. I suggect you join the Hobie Island Club, as Lorraine Garnier (club cooordinstor) will pass your details on to the Sydney group. The local clubs tend to be laid-back (well it IS a Hobie :D ), but offer the benefit of linking up with other Island owners providing company on trips, exchange of knowledge as well as Haynes T-shrts and window stickers.

Making a trip outside is heaps safer in company, even if you have all the safety gear.

Any time you venture up to the mid-north coast, PM me first, as I have contact with Island owners anywhere from the Hawkesbury through to Port Macquarie who can show you the local ropes.

Same here and welcome Frodo. I'm just up the road from you so if you ever want to venture up to the Lake, give us a yell.
