Did a sail around Key West. Included going around Fleming Key to the north so the total miles was about 16. Wind was from the north at 15-25 knots. Ended up paddling, peddling, motoring, and sailing as going a loop around an island involves a lot of wind to no wind plus random current directions. Probably not so feasible without the motor or at least not so comfortable. It's winter time so would have been much more fun during warmer sunny weather. It's still in the high 60's and mid 70's so not complaining too much.

Yea it probably could be done without the motor, but why would you want to lol. You picked the right way to go around, going the other way would have been way more difficult, the current near mallory square is north to south at 5-6 mph, and impossible with an AI/TI without the motor. I hate that whole area around Flemming key, too shallow and the channels are too narrow to tack in.
I've never launched at 11th st ramp figuring pedaling out that canal would be brutal. We always launch at the concrete ramp next to the first building to the left of higgs beach and park in the vietnam memorial parking lot. Don't launch at low tide there unless you like wading thru 6 inches of mud though. We don't go north a lot since we are divers we hang south of the island mostly. South of the Island is nice for snorkeling just off of higgs and smathers beaches. My opinion is the area is just too large to do without a motor, especially going out to the reefs (not recommeded on a stock Ti).
Looks like you had a blast.
