I took a weeks vacation down to North Carolina around Beaufort and Harkers Island. I towed the TI about 240 miles (one-way) on the Hobie trailer and didn't have a bit of issues. We took it out on a few day trips and had a blast. Below is a link to a video of our sail from Harkers Island Bridge to Browns Island. I apologize for the video. This was my first time using the camera and editing.

I hope you will enjoy. Very peaceful sailing!

Looks like a nice calm sail.

Did you launch from the ramp on the mainland side of the bridge?

Just checked it out on Google Earth - looks like there's a nice sandy beach next to the pier there. Might have to check that out as a place to launch my H16 one day.

Nice video!

Thanks for sharing the video, it looks like a great place to sail.

My daughter just came back from three weeks at the Duke marine lab there. They have a nice web cam overlooking the Beaufort waterfront.

I didn't launch at the ramp, although it looked pretty nice. Coming from the North, we passed the ramp on the right and went to the small island in the middle next to the pier on the left. I used my beach wheel cart and launched from the beach. It was very, very shallow at low tide. ( about 6 inches) and it was some low spots in the sound to look out for while sailing.

If I launched at the ramp, I would have had to lower my mast or go to the draw bridge and have them open the bridge. I choose the path of least resistance. The beach launch was fine. I was able to back the trailer down very close to the water and there was plenty of park for a trailer. I went on a Monday, so not sure how it would be during the weekend.

Hey Chris,
My wife and l love Beaufort. We actually sailed in Taylors Creek which is showing in the web cam.
The wind was blowing right down the middle, so it was a little difficult trying to tack and avoid boats.
We still had a good time looking at all the sites.

We also took a catamaran Sunset Sail Cruise out of Beaufort and went around Carrot Island. Lots of fun and big wind (15-20 knots) and waves 5-7 ft. I am glad I was along for the ride and not the captain! :)

I always enjoy a simple AI sailing video without Rock music or peppy commentators spoiling the mood.

I cannot go sailing today but I can enjoy you're day, thanks.
