Thanks dwhite601. Does the outrigger bend much when its fully extended with your AI? Also have you ever come close to the AI sliding off the end of the outrigger, to me it looks like the vertical stop doesnt look that high and that the AI could easily slide off the end of the bar. As an asside do you transport upside down or right side up?
Thanks, this really does help my decision.

The bar is extended by rotating up the end cap and pulling it out. The up turned cap does prevent the hull from sliding off. It looks pretty secure. The bar does bend a bit though. I didn't get the impression it was close to failure and it does go back in OK. I verified it's load capacity is more than half the kayak's weight.

I transport my AI upside down resting on a couple of rack pads. I have room left over for one ama and the mast supports. The other ama rides inside with me.

Thanks mate, but this one actually belongs to a friend. Mine is on the way. :D

Here is a video of it's maiden voyage. I lost a video camera in the water this day so I only had vision from one, but you'll get the idea. :P

Very nice setup. Could to tell me what roof rack and front moulding's are used. Could you also tell me where your friend got them from? Are you getting the same setup?

The roof racks are Rhino Heavy Duty Aero. They also have the Hobie TI cradles fitted. He got them from our local dealer here in Australia. He also has a large roller, like a T-bar, coming up from his tow bar. He can rest the nose of the yak on the roller and push the TI onto the roof racks quite easily even with the aka/amas installed.

I have different Heavy Duty Rhino Racks. I'd like to set mine up like this also but my car won't go into the garage if I attach the cradles. For that reason I will trailer mine. Th PA will still go on the roof. :D

Great video and editing Rhino!
I was looking forward to seeing the GoPro clips from the head mounted camera but I guess that's what went overboard
Is it a GoPro on the end of the pole? It's very stable video. 8)
Any more details on camera setup?

Thanks mate.

Yes, the head camera went overboard and is lost to the sea gods. IT had some good video on it also which may have been interesting for those considering a TI. It showed the loading and unloading, set-up and getting it to the water etc. There were more angles from a sailing point of view. We also came passed a boat that was hooked up to a snapper and we ventured out into the shipping channel and passed a big anchored ship.

Both cameras are HD GoPros. I can help you if you are looking to purchase one. :D

Welcome to the club then. You're off to a bangin start.

If I may suggest -paint the camera pole black.

Back on subject, that looks like the ideal TI roof rack. Please shoot the loading and unloading for us.

Thanks for the tip on the black pole.

When my TI comes and I replace the lost camera, I will certainly do another video including loading/unloading etc..

Cheers
Darren.

I am also from melbourne, who is the local dealer? I am very interested in getting the pole at the back and the mouldings at the front. I would love to talk to your dealer.
By the way great video. Where did the TI launch from; when I get mine it would be great to catch up with another TI!!

Thanks.
The dealer doesn't have the roller at the back. My mate did that himself, but he certainly sells the cradles.

We launched from Altona Beach. My TI arrives Monday week. It'd be great to catch up for a sail sometime. WE are already planning some trips. Altona to Portarlington etc.

Where are you from?
