Post subject:  Adjusting the elastic cords on the Island

Out sailing in our Lakes yesterday I noticed the front elastic cord holding the starboard ama wasn't doing its job. Whilst beating to windward, I observed an inch or so movement with the aka end trying to escape from the ama as it came off the smallish waves pushed up with 10 to 15 knots. My solution was to fold in the ama and to change the elastic strap from the bottom to the top retaining post. That worked.

My question is how do you adjust or replace the straps as they stretch or perish?.....Captain Pirate

There's a little tool that unscrews those black plastic plugs holding in the lines. I got the tool from Hobie recently, but haven't had to replace any bungees yet.

Thanks Tom. I thought those two notches must have been for a tool to unscrew the plugs. Strange that only one bungy cord was loose on my boat on my first real sail. Maybe it is a little larger than the others in the first place...Captain Pirate
