Let me start by saying my sailing experience is limited to a few times using my Adventure with the small sail and sidekicks. It's fun for sure.
Today I had the opportunity to demo an AI on a small lake for about an hour. The first breathe of wind that hit the sail had me a little skeptical, being unsure what to expect as it started leaning over and moving out. It didn't take long to realize it would take a major malfunction to actually turtle it. In short time, I was zipping back and forth quite rapidly. Wind speed is unknown to me, but I can say the downwind outrigger was nearly submerged on more than one occasion.
Chop was pretty small, but the ride was understandably wet during faster passes. I hope to have the opportunity to hit a larger lake at some point. For my first time out, everything other than bare essentials remained in the Jeep so I do not have any speed numbers, pics or video. The experience was quite amazing, leaving me totally speechless....and wanting more. Kudos to Hobie on one sweet ride!
