Just as a comment, if the dagger/center board is down, it cuts the "pretty big" turning radius by more than half. I leave down my daggerboard when coming into a boat ramp or harbor until I make my last turn to line up with the ramp, for much better maneuverability. Still, I have my paddle at hand, for 'as needed adjustments'.
