I lost a sail batten two days ago and the local Hobie dealer does not have a replacement in stock. The local sail makers can provide suitable fibreglass rod and retainer end piece.

What length should the stern sail batten be for the 2008 AI sail?

Det
PS. Also broke my paddle in half the bow dove into a wave at approx 8 knots and the paddle blade went under - and suddenly only half the paddle left. The batten was not clipped in and popped out about 1 foot, then it was gone.

7'9"...well at least thats the length of batten that my local sailmaker made up for me this afternoon....its not rod, though its just flat batten...maybe too bendy...lost the original in silly wind yesterday...dunno where it came from but it came in awful strong, had the sail furled till there was only a dish cloth (flogging itself to death) left out and still the whole craft behaved in a highly 'divergent' manner...I mean everything went south.....helm, rudder...the lot. I dont blame the boat it was blowing its tee-eye-tee-es off, just happy I got back OK!!!!

I noticed after my last sail the cord locking the battern in was getting loose. Must make a point of checking more often.
