One of the reasons I put my AI on a trailer, was my inability to quickly pull the pin out of the aka joint or pop the pin back into the joint. Sometimes I had to use a small hammer to tap the pin back in..
i guess it's a bit late in the day to be giving you AI advice, but I've found that spraying the pins periodically with WD40 makes them easy to get in and out.

A little lube goes a long way. TW, you were not trying to install aka pins with amas attached were you? It's a lot easier if you're just pinning a free aka, then put on the amas when you're done.

We took our puppies sailing Thursday, but the big one kept jumping out of my boat.

No...the amas were not attached.
I think that some of the pin holes on the aka-crossbar joints were not perfectly
drilled. Two of the pins go fairly easily in and out, but the other two are nearly
impossible for me to pull out and push in with bare hands.
I did lube the pins but with little effect. I didn't want to drill out the holes...I was
too worried about making the diameter too large.
So I have learned to live with them.
It is going to be so nice to have the easy removal of the TI akas (as long as I don't get
any grit in the sleeve...will need careful flushing).

It may be better TW to give the offending pins a good rub with wet and dry paper and keep rubbing and refitting into the hole until it feels right. It's hard to know how tight the fit is from here but if it's real bad you could start off with fine emery paper but it would be best to always finish with wet and dry. Sorry, the phrases wet and dry and emery paper are most probably called something different over there. But I mean the fine grain sand type paper that you use with water ?

Just sail it for a while, the holes will get bigger on their own.
