We received our new Adventure Island Tandem last week.
I am currently the owner of an Adventure and it is an awesome kayak, great for touring, fishing, camping, etc... but now, with the tandem, we can both get out and enjoy the adventure of sailing, camping and fishing.
The Tandem was shipped without a few key components so it will be a while before we can sail or start exploring and I can't wait for the chance to get this thing under sail.
The one thing that struck me as very refreshing was the engineering that went into the rigging. I have come to expect quality engineering and manufacturing from Hobie and they sure hit the mark with this craft. I am looking forward to just as good of an experience with performance and many years of pure unadulterated fun... :D

Have you been able to try it out in kayak mode? If so, I'm very curious of how fast it is compared to the Adventure. :-)

How cool is that?
Post some pics, tell us more.
I guess I should call my dealer and check on the status of my TI. I am ready to go sailing!
Also curious how it does in kayak mode.

I have not had time to take it out in kayak mode yet. I am a huge fan of the Adventure and love it's speed and agility and it behaves well in the surf as well.
I am hoping that this unit will be even more stable and competent.
We are still waiting on the mast and sail but I am planning to get out as soon as they are received.
I will post more pics in the next few days.

Hopefully you are just using the trailer for rigging? You need some bunks or pads under the hull. Those crossbars will dent the hull pretty quick.

Actually the trailer was used just for setup. I do not own a trailer capable of hauling it safely as of yet. I am VERY concerned about trailer choice and had been considering asking for advice here on this forum.
Trailex apparently has a good solution are there others that anyone here is aware of?
I really like the Yakima trailer, it seems to be superior to the trailex so I am kind of torn at this point.
The sail and mast are a few weeks behind as are the users guides and registration documentation.
I anticipate having it all in one spot and trailer ready in a couple of weeks.
I would love to have a trailer purchased and rigged at that time as well.....

Seems strange that you are receiving it in dribs and drabs - but maybe that is your preference - rather than wait for the sail, mast, documentation etc to all be available. I guess I would be happy to just get the hull first if my dealer was nearby - that way I could sort out the trailer and make a set of f/g cradles for it (need the hull to get the shape right).

Anakritis,

Congrats on the Tandem! The pictures weren't taken in Estero were they? Looks just like the dealer around the corner from me.

Enjoy!

Well actually that is in fact the case...
Unfortunately I have no sway in how it was delivered from Hobie.
We simply decided we wanted one, put a down payment on the craft, waited, nearly half a year, then got the call that we got delivery of the hull.
We paid for the craft and now are sorting out how to trailer it.
I am well pleased with it so far. I would certainly like to be sailing but as I understand it the Pro-Fisherman was delayed more than a year and was shipped incomplete as well.

So long as the bugs are worked out before spring breezes diminish into south Florida heat I will be pleased... LOL!

Since you have to wait for your TI sail you can try the standard Hobie kayak sail and Stringy's custom adapter. Perhaps the dealer with loan you the standard sail and give you a discount on the parts to build the adapter.

Instructions here:

I have a TI ordered and my dealer stated that the hull may arrive before the Mast and sail. I also own an AI and wonder if I could use the AI's mast and sail until the TI's arrive?
