just purchased tandem island, initial mainsheet rigging was "lost". Is there a diagram of this initial factory setup?

Congratulations and welcome to the forum.

Bitter end front cockpit forward through starboard cam cleat, forward through block on starboard side, aft through loops...

Continuing aft through lower block, up through deck block as shown, forward through sail (via small block with "S" hook, aft through deck block, then through aft starboard upper block...

Continuing forward through starboard block forward of rear cockpit, aft through rear cockpit cam cleat; simple knot at both bitter ends to prevent loss of sheet.

In other words, one end of the sheet terminates at the front cockpit and the other terminates at the rear cockpit. Control is transferred by releasing sheet in one cockpit and sheeting in in the other cockpit. There is an optional routing if this proves too difficult to sheet. Consult your owners manual for details.

i just got a tandem and there was no owners manual.
I always have the front cam catching when I am running the sail from the rear, so I
was wondering if my sheets are improperly rigged also.
I have a different block attached to the sail. It has two rollers and one is not used.

Steve, your dealer is responsible for getting you the owner's manual -- usually comes packed with the boat. I'm sure he can get Hobie to send another.

Both ends of your mainsheet should be have a simple knot tied about one foot from the bitter end. This will prevent the sheet from slipping through the cleat and also provide you about a foot of "handle" to grab.

When operating the sail from the rear cockpit, the front cockpit sheet is released as can be seen below (highlighted in blue), and the sheet is cleated entirely through the rear cleat (green highlight), where there is no problem locking and releasing the sheet.

My test boat didn't have the "becket" or "fiddle" block, which ever you one you have. This is used if you want to re-configure your sheet to a triple purchase instead of a double purchase rig (factory setting), giving you more leverage in stronger winds. This entails committing the sail control to one cockpit, however; the unused end of the sheet is switched from the unused cockpit to the sail block.

I think Reconlon has made that change and may be able to post some pics and describe the detail. 8)

Mainsheets can be used from either location. Just cleat off the front one and use at the rear as pictured by roadrunner.

Matt,

Manual only shows the way to rig it for a 3:1 mechanical advantage. It does not show the original configuration which I would also like to have.
