I purchased a Adventure Island back in 2007. I have heard that there are free upgrades available for early purchased Adventure Islands. My hull ID number is CCMD4045B707. Please let me know if I qualify for any upgrades. Early this summer I was sailing in Canada and the mast started to come out of the hull while sailing. After I got back to the dock I took the mast out and noticed that the piece at the bottom of the mast that locks the mast in place is chipped causing the clip, that holds the mast down, to disconnect which in turn causes the mast to come out easy. I also have a problem with the lever getting stuck when I need to get the rudder out of the water, is there free upgrades for both of these problems. I own two other sailboats a 25' Catalina and a Sea Snark and I have to say that I have more fun sailing the Adventure Island then any other sailboat!

skipsail, I am in the same boat as you! (yuk, yuk... )

I have an '07AI and have had NO response from the original dealer or the Hobie dealer in Flagstaff, AZ.

I feel that if you can get some (or any) reposonse from a reliable dealship, you should be able to start installing upgraded parts, like the balanced rudder, rudder pull system and magical "grey rudder pin" among others. A comprehensive Hobie PN upgrade list for '07s would be helpfull!

TIA Matt!

Here's a list of upgrades that should still be free from Hobie for early AI's:

# 81035011 - Up/Down rudder handle - (free)
# 81397001 - "Balanced" Large sailing rudder for Twist-n-Stow - (free)
# 81391002 - RUDDER UP/DOWN LINE SYSTEM '07-08 - (free)

Here's the post with some of these and other early fixes: http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=5958

Thanks Bob! :)

That helps, but I still need to address the problem with the mast.

You could replace the drum. You would have to cut the original off the mast and epoxy a new one in it's place.

The drum is shown the in catalog as 79512001 $7.25 currently.
