I tried the Hennessey. I didn't take me long to figure that you have to have something to reflect heat back to your back, otherwise it's colder than sleeping directly on the ground (the heat is loss in the air obviously and it doesn't need to be very cold outside to be uncomfortable). Fortunately a normal foam mat fits nicely inside the hammoc and even helps the hammoc to keep it's shape.

The one thing I cannot put up with is the movement and I'm not super impressed with the comfort. Therefor I will try to setup some form of sleeping surface on the kayak itself.

Do you find the hammock comfortable without the foam mat inside? Some people love the sensation of lying in a hammock and others hate it. I found having an underlay under the hammock much preferable to putting something under me inside the hammock, because whatever I used would slip around on the floor of the hammock.
I found it worth persevering till I got the hang of it (pun intended).
The Hammock Forum is helpful. They're as fanatical as the Hobie forum people.
