I doubt without this forum I would have evry justified the expense of the Adventure Island. Having met two owners and exchanged pms with members and read countless posts I finally purchased a 2010 model. The difference in 2nd hand value prompted me to buy new and benifit from warrenty. So far impressed by the attention to detail from hobie. Need to sort out storage and assemble today and fingers crossed for light winds next weekend so I can start enjoying what it has to offer.

:D (how long until the ££££ butterflies pass?!)

Welcome aboard! The butterflies passed for us as soon as we got out on the water and began to enjoy our kayak. :D

Ah the butterflies! :D

Just do what I did my first time out. Get out there... point the nose into the wind. Unfurl the sail about halfway, and learn how it reacts. It won't take long for the butterflies to fly away!

Congratulations on the purchase, and welcome to the club and the forums!

Welcome aboard Pav. Just look at it as an investment in your wellbeing. A rough guestimate on costs, say this new investment of yours depreciates at a rate of $500/year. 10 outings a year = $50 per outing. 20 outings = $25 per outing. See the trend. See why we go out so often. See why I'm planning to live on mine.
Don't forget the photos or CGM will get onto ya.

Depreciation only occurs if you sell something. I plan to sail my TI until I am 100years old (I am 40 now!)

When it comes to bills; I close my eyes and hand over my credit card (I don't recommend this!)
