Hi guys,

Just wondering (apart from aesthetics) is there are any benefits in choosing the grey tamps over the black, or vice-versa?

I recently saw an ivory dune A.I. with the grey tramps and it looked great...

But would the lighter colour make them more 'glary' when out on a sunny day?

Mike.

I have a Dune TI and I bought black tramps. It just match all the black trims in the boat (shock cord, seat, hatch covers, crossbars, akas, rudder etc).

One advantage I can think of for the grey is that they will be cooler.

Then again this could depend when you are. Our North European friends with their single digit (or below) temps might consider this a dissadvantage.

I love the black ones and have no reservations.

They might add a wee bit of warmth, but this has never been an issue in sunny Hawaii. A little bun warmer on a wet, windy ride is no worry at all. It helps.

To me, they look better, will not show stains, or stretching or minor tears as much.

Clear ones would be cool though. 8)

Here I'll have to disagree with some of my friends as I really like the Gray color. If you settle for just a Red AI or TI, like NOHUHU then maybe you need black ones to try to tone it down, but with the faster Yellow or Dune Islands, both look great in ether color! 8)

In bright sun neither color is a problem with glare, but the Red hull color causes me an after-effect of seeing a large green spot for a few seconds after looking at it on the water.

Look how the Gray colored Sprayskirts make this AI stand out.

Where the Black Sprayskirt on the Red, tones down all that Red, almost disappearing.

Also, I choose Gray for my home-made heavy-duty fishing tramp, so I can see everything I put on it!

And they match your hair color so nicely too, Bob.

But once the Kawakawas start bleeding all over them, or you miss a few shishi's, I expect grey tramps will never be the same.

Besides, supermodels are finicky. With black tramps they will NEVER know who or what was there before them.

Ew Yuck!
