Sorry Pirate, I didn't mean to accuse you of pedantry. I'm sure you're very trustworthy with children. You were only trying to explain why you called it a daggerboard and not a centerboard.

Hobie calls it a "daggerboard." If I were a real sailor, that might bother me, but it doesn't. Hobie has re-defined a lot of things, and made a lot of money doing it.

Boy, this thread has gotten a bit off topic.

+2 and I support a way to quickly see what year and model that a poster has (hull ID or portion thereof?). Maybe something under the author. Especially if Hobie makes subtle changes to the boats mid production.

So Tiki and KB, if you both endorse having details of each poster's year and model, how come neither of you has put your own details with your signatures?

it seems a fair amount of the salty Adventure dawgs are moving from AI to TI and I think if the boards were seperated the AI N00bs might not get the help they're looking once the AI forum is vacated ...

... and us AI'ers - will we be called trolling trolls for posting in the TI section ?

I've withdrawn my initial suggestion about separating the boards, in the light of near universal howling down, but off the top of my head, I can't think of any salty dawgs who've actually abandoned the AI.

I didn't know what info would be useful. Is there a part of my hull number that tells what date it was made?

Normally the year model and whether it's an AI or TI would be enough (as you've done). You only need the hull number for very specific enquiries directed to Hobie.

If some do move to the TI Chris, my strong feeling is...they'll be back. AIs are faster and more practical than their fat sisters....Pirate

I believe there are at least 3 people, who have used a TI solo in the WaterTribe Everglades Challenge 2011 or 2010, who have indicated that the AI may be a better boat for that competition.
