Daniel and son (Devin), Patrick, Adam, and Andrew all meet at Freeport Texas early AM for some bait. We all launched our kayaks at the base of surfside jetty on the channel side. It was Daniel's maiden voyage on his Adventure Island. We made our way to the end of the surfside jetty and fished that spot for a few hours. There were some red fish caught, and several jetty fisherman where catching Spanish mackerel. Patrick was in a Hobie Pro Angler, Adam was in a Hobie out Back, Andrew was in a tandem kayak with a Nissan 2.5hp motor attached to the back of it with some make shift pontoons, and Daniel was in a Hobie Adventure Island. At the end of surfside jetty the water condition was smooth with a 1 foot wave of every 6 or 7 seconds. The water color was a murky green color, and there was some sea weed floating along. We fished the end of the jetty for 2 hours then decided to head to a far off rig in the distance, what looked like it was 4 miles away. Daniel opened his sail on the Hobie Adventure Island and started sailing into the south east winds towards the rig, Patrick and Adam had help from Andrew towing them with his 2.5hp motor. While sailing Daniel was trolling two Ralapa lures and one of the reels started to peel line, soon as Daniel got it the fish was off of his line, Daniel thinks it was a king fishing bite. There was a lot of sea weed in the water once we all arrive at the rig we see a lot of big spade fish under the rig legs and some other fish species. Daniel hook up on a monster gaff top, then Adam hooks up on a monster stingray, and Patrick gets a big hook up, but lost it due to his line breaking. The rig had a lot of boat pressure after a few hours the winds start to pick up and we all decide to head back. It was sure a fun day for all of us.
