Hey Fellow Canucks

In Nanaimo, BC, Canada a great Hobie dealer has been in the process of selling a considerable number of AI and TIs in the last 6 months. According to the staff, the demand is brisk...nice!

http://www.albernioutpost.com/

Not only does this customer service oriented dealer sell and work hard to supply your Hobie part needs for central Vancouver Island, BC, Canada, they also have an Adventure Center`, where AIs/TIs and other vessels they offer for sale are available for rent right beside a gorgeous Historical Provincial Park: New Castle Island. (Prolly the only Island Park I know of that has a floating pub attached) :o

Not sure if the North Pacific and a Sit on Top are a match made in heaven?
Rent one for an hour or longer. As Owner Richard said to me:
"The first time you take one of these Islands out, you'll wear a grin on your face"
(Good on yah, Man, I'm still smiling).

So what`s this all bout.

When a number of the same happy sailors have the same great boat in the same regional waters, it is only natural to do one of two things:
1) Get a Privateering Licence from the English Crown (highly unlikely)
2) Form a Sailing Association.

So anyone in the Central Vancouver Island region pm me, please, or talk to Richard or Mike at:
http://www.albernioutpost.com/
and see what happens.

(Btw: The Salmon fishing is killer right now near French Creek extending down past Nanoose Bay)

Thanks for reading
Trinomite

Great idea. I'm in the "original" Vancouver south of you. Hope to sail up there some day. If there are owners around Portland, OR I'm up for a club or meetup group.

Hey ihop
Been thinking of hauling my 5th wheel and truck back from Vegas (long, long, sad story) and either keep the 'Winter Rig' in AZ, or closer to home in Eugene, OR or Centralia, WA.
I must admit, I've only done the Puget as far south as Anacordes (in the San Juans many, many full Moons ago).
Yet a trip to the Southern Sound seems worthy of a road trip.
Consider yourself as an integral part of the 'Association'.

Welcome aboard M8, :)
Fred

Hmm, considering a name: The Central Vancouver Island Adventure Assoc. is a bust.

Why not further the regions a bit further...

How about the 'North Western Hobie SailYak Association'?

Your turn IslandHoppa27, if you wish?

Hiyas Clew 56
Looks like you're in the Western burbs of Portland. Do you sail on the Columbia or haul 'er down to Cannon Beach? (or both?)
Considering that I'm a day's travel from you both, why don't you and ihop connect and let me know what happens. I'm more interested in sharing the good times than be the Pres (or Prime Minister) hehehe.
However anything I can do to spread the word to the locals here on Vancouver Island would indeed be my pleasure.

Best Regards
Fred

T-Mite and Clew,

I would love to get together and sail and/or fish. I'll try to come up with suggestions for a name for our group. iYakers, Vancouyakers,

Just had a two day trip with my grandson to Silver Lake near Mt. St. Helens. Didn't catch much but had a great time. My sailing skills far outweigh my fishing skills.

I'm into lake fishing but the Columbia sure has my interest. Had dinner Saturday night at Joe's Crab Shack and thought it would be fun to sail over to Portland and have lunch at Hayden Island some time. It would be even more fun with two or three Hobies.

I was driving all over Portland today and came home along Marine Drive. I'd love to sail the Columbia now that it's gone down a bit. I was thinking about a trip around Government island.

I'm heading to Waikiki end of this week, maybe when I get back we can plan a trip. You can always meet me at Lacamas Lake, not too big but it's nice, especially during the week when there's no one else there.
