Have any changes for 2012 been announced yet for the AI (or TI)? And when should the 2012 start shipping?

Hey rec
there's a trade show on right now in Salt Lake City. When my dealer gets back, I'll pick his head.
Kinda want to see also what to expect myself.

Just a comparison. I've heard from my dealer that it has a Mirage drive slot to quickly align the drive while inserting. Anything else different? Price I've been told is going up $250us.

I was hoping the side handle problem (splashing) that the 2011's have was fixed.

Someday, I'd hope to see the deck raised like the TI which would probably add additional weight capacity as well as dry out the cockpit until splashing speed and protect the drive release levers.

I'm thinking on selling my oldest boat and replace with a 2011 or 2012 to join all you with the newer bigger rudders. :)

Yes, drive alignment is included in the 2012 models. Makes mounting the drive much more fool proof.

The handles have not yet been made "splash proof". The design was complete... I am awaiting parts. Will have the same handle with a different "over-mold" shape to block water. At the very least we would offer replacements at a nominal charge when they become available.

Thank Matt!

Anything else new for 2012 on the AI & TI besides the drive align?

A new type of seat peg with a positive lock. Also includes a "T" handle for the paddle.

Would you have any estimate on when a 2102 model could be procured in N. Florida? Will you still have the Dune color?
Thanks!

Yes, dune is offered. 2012 Model AIs are shipping now. You would have to check with your dealer about when they are ordering or expecting stock.

PLEASE tell me these seat pegs can retro-fit! Can they?!?

Despite roughing up the holes on my TI, nothing will hold those seat pegs in.

Thanks for that post, NOHUHU.
Been to busy with real life to pick my dealer's head.
No matter you answered my questions I would have offered him...

"So Mista Deala Mon, what do Hobie wanna do for us in 2012?

Well da veeedio say it all, Mon?"

Da Hobie Mon wanna do a fat assed Motha cause dey know dat de fishin' is da prime Mon. DA PRIME!

So Mista Deala, Mon, can me an me bros get a fat assed teeny meany little sailin yak?

No Mon, this Motha be only for de fishin', Mon. Only da fishin'. The stern be made wide ass to allow de Bait tank to fit.

So dis make de boat more stable?
Sure it's stable unless de bait tank be filled wit da sea.

Cool Mista Deala Man, will it sell?

Be Bob Marley a Rastaman? (Whatcha think, dum ass motha?)"

Btw: This is not representative of my dear dealer who I consider a friend. This post was simply to make light of the fact that Trade shows are a usually a 'Gong Show' of bad veeedio and even worse marketing 'acting'. Gawd knows I've been to way to many of them in my professional life.

You know what?
It a Baby Pro Angler. Pretty cool considering that it's big bro is a pretty heavy boat for most aging anglers to get on a roof or even into the back of the truck.

Note to the Hobie Design Team: That added on aft area for that boat way also be a way to add buoyancy to the Islands. With a shift of intented admidship weight to the stern on the TI and AI, (and of course a better way to get lift on the bow, we could get these popular boats to plane.

We can only dream ar we can ask respectfully to consider (and test) these mods to revolutionize the 2013 Islands.

Just a small heads up there are many type of competing triyaks that are being tested on a daily basis to get the best desired results, Client Product dedication shpould resut in making viable composites to beat the competition, Of course the willingness by the vendor to listen to the customers is huge.

I'd rather listen to you than have to restart with a new unproved company;
Let's make sure that you keep your ears open in the future. (Surprising what you will come up with (for free))

Regards Folks
Trinomite
