There's a stainless pad eye just forward of the carry handle on both amas on the 2012 TI I just got.

Nothing like that on my AI.

Could someone please tell me the purpose of those pad eyes?

Thanks.

For a future (someday?) jib sail.

Hmmm, if I were Hobie, and thinking of making a headsail option, I would then think about triangulating support for the mast head, via two rearward leaning sidestay plus a forestay (and some sort of swivelling masthead fitting to continue with roller furling). So I would make a slight running change to the Amas to include the future sidestay fitting....

Just thinking out loud

Sorry Bob, we were both thinking the same thing! Great minds etc :)
