I've just taken delivery os a couple of AIs. Had the first sail today. Great fun.

A couple of problems though.

The daggerboard kept moving up the slot. I had a look at the manual and it says to feed the daggerboard bungee, 'through the padeye behind the map pocket and loop it over the eyelet post near the right hand side of the seat'. The problem is both of my hulls do not have these fittings attached? Anyone else have this problem? If so, what was the outcome?

The other problem is that the starboard tramploine will not fit because the mainsheet cleat is exactly where the forward inside edge of the trampoline should be. Again anyone else have this problem, and what was the outcome?

I ordered these two AIs three weeks ago and they were delivered to the shop last Thursday 15th.

Thanks in advance for any feed back.

Don't know why you wouldn't have those fittings. I have a 2012 hull with 2011 components. I can't imagine why Hobie would instruct you to run the daggerboard bungee through a padeye at a higher elevation. That alone would seem to pull the board upward. I Barely have enough bungee to stetch it over the eyelet that's somewhat hidden under the righthand side of the seat. The older manual's don't mention anything about running the bungee through a padeye.

Jut to be sure, here's a picture of an AI daggerboard setup. On some of the newer AI's the eyelet post is located closer and higher, but should be there.

My new hull definitely doesn't have one either. I'm also missing the post where you hook the bungee from one of my new front akas

Welcome to the forum colinm.
If you look carefully at the attached photo, mine setup is slightly different to Bobs' photo above. I've put a white plastic hook on the bungee so that I don't have to thread the bungee through the padeye, I just attach the hook. ( call me lazy ).

As long as it holds the daggerboard down, all's fine. They have a tendency to want to ride up out of their slot where the daggerboard can't pivot. If you ever hit something with the daggerboard and it can't pivot, something (hull or daggerboard) will probably break! :o

Good point Bob. The hook has to have an eye ( which mine does ) so that the bungie is free to move if the dagger needs to pivot. ( that omission could have been an expensive for someone ) .
That white hook in the photo is a pretty weak plastic which would hopefully fail anyway if the dagger hit anything and for some reason the bungee snagged on something.

thanks for all the feed back guys. I had a look at my hulls today after work and they do not have the small plastic pin near the right hand seat strap retainer for hooking the bungee around.

I've also found out that they are 2010 year hulls....

They were in their packaging when I picked them up, and they have the new rudder, but seem to be missing some of the other small details.

A call, and then ... back to the dealer... they or Hobie will make it right.

Wow, if you just bought 2 new 2010 Ais from a dealer you should have got a pretty big discount over that for buying two. Good luck

Hi Tony,

I'm going to give them a call tomorrow. I figured give them a couple of days to get in touch with Hobie.

I'm in WA so we'll see what happens.......
